From Cape Town International Airport
Proceed towards Cape Town along the N2 Highway, past Junction 9 (signed “Muizenberg” and M5). Still on the N2, keep in the left-hand lane, past the next junction, past the off-ramp signed “Main Road” and “Woodstock”, and take the next off-ramp at Junction 6 (signed “Kirstenbosch”, “Muizenberg” and “M3).
Proceed along the M3 dual carriageway, past Princess Anne Interchange, (move into right-hand lane), to the traffic lights. Turn right at these lights (signed “Kirstenbosch”, “Hout Bay” and M63).
Continue along the M63, past Kirstenbosch Gardens, to a T-junction. Turn right here and continue along the M63 until you reach a traffic circle. The M41 from Constantia joins from your left. Go two-thirds around the circle into Main Road (still signed “M63 and “Hout Bay”).
Carry on along Main Road, for about six kilometres, to the next traffic circle.
*** The left exit is signed “Imizamo Yethu”. Take the second exit, straight over, and continue for approximately one kilometre along Main Road, past a BP/Pick n Pay Service Station, to a Shell Service Station, situated on the corner of Main and Andrews. At this intersection is a set of pedestrian traffic lights.
About 15 metres beyond these lights, take the road off to your left, at a diagonal. (If you get to a traffic circle, you have gone too far). There is an arch over the entrance to this road, signed “Hout Bay Manor”. It looks like an entrance to a private estate, but is, in fact a public road, Baviaanskloof Road.
+++ Proceed along Baviaanskloof Road for approximately 1 kilometre. Drive past Darling Road on your left and continue up the steep and winding road. You will pass Baviaans Close on the right, Turkeyberry Lane on the left, Lindavista Lane on the right and Cordelia Avenue on the left and then Fountain Drive on the right. Poplar Tree Lodge is the 5th gateway on the left, No 9. Press the intercom button on the left gatepost and we will open the gate for you.
From Cape Town CBD, via Camp’s Bay and Coastal Road
Take the M6 (via Sea Point) or M62 (via Kloof Nek) out of Cape Town and just past Camps Bay the two roads meet at Bakoven. Here the M62 stops and the M6 (Victoria Lane) continues south along the coastal road towards Hout bay & Chapman’s Peak, passing the Twelve Apostles Hotel on the right. Just after the turning to Llandudno the road begins one final rise and on the other side of the crest you will begin to descend into Hout Bay.
At the first traffic lights, turn left, (still the M6), into Victoria Road (signed “Chapman’s Peak Drive”), go straight at the 1st traffic circle and on to the traffic circle at Imizamo Yethu, go three-quarters round, third exit, into Main Road, and follow directions from *** above.
From Fish Hoek or Kommetjie, via Noordhoek (only when Chapman’s Peak Drive is open)
Follow Chapman’s Peak Drive toll road, M6, into Hout Bay.
Continue past the Chapman’s Peak Hotel until the traffic circle. Take the second exit off (straight over) and immediately turn right into Baviaanskloof Road, just before the pedestrian traffic lights. Follow the directions from +++ above.
